Eastern White Pine

Eastern White Pine

Pines come in a wide array of forms, some topping out at 200 feet or more. They grow quickly, and are useful for lumber. Then there is the one on our median. Our pine is a bit lazy. If we don’t prop it up, it will turn into a blob. A lovely, green, twisting ball of pine needles, almost a groundcover. It’s a Weeping White Pine. And though it’s a tree, regardless of training, the thing will only ever get about 10 feet tall. The height of a decent shrub. The sprawling crazy beast is exactly like other pines in that it grows quickly: about a foot a year. Watch this spot.
